Purpose of the job 
To promote the aims and purposes of ACH in all areas of activity; to provide strategic input to take the regional offices forward in the delivery of its strategic and fundraising aims. To actively advocate our pioneering #rethinkingrefugee work to Directors, Heads of HR Depts and other decision makers in the region. 
Strategic planning for future development is a key part of this job description, since it is the RBDM's responsibility to develop the pipeline of new business coming in to the company. This requires a thorough knowledge of the marketplace and of the company's competitors. 
A day in the life of a RBDM might include tasks like: 
Preparing and submitting formal business tenders and proposals 
Competitive analysis 
Contract review with potential new clients 
Collaboration with the marketing department 
Researching and sourcing potential business opportunities and contacts 
Developing and maintaining business relations with financial services’ introducers 
Following up business leads and identifying new sales opportunities 
Setting up client meetings and promoting the organisation’s additional products and services 
Principal duties 
Seek projects, companies and external organisations to work with in delivering the business development agenda, thus generating grant and external income. 
Assist members of staff to develop grant applications and commercial proposals. This will include liaison with other Business Development functions, to utilise materials and examples of good practice developed in other parts of the¬¬ business. 
Work with management and administrative staff to develop and present business cases for investment including market strategies, resource and financial plans. Ensure that proposed activities are fully costed and that the pricing structure will generate the target return. This may include plans for spin out companies. 
Working with others in the Business Development team and across the business to ensure that legal agreements are effectively negotiated to protect the business’s position and reputation and those opportunities to protect and exploit intellectual property are identified. 
Generally, the RBDM will work on projects up to £250k in value, though this will depend on the requirements of the business at the time. Work on projects in excess of this value will be by agreement with the SBDM. 
Contribute actively to building the team of Business Development Managers and Business Development Officers in the business so as to meet quality standards for service delivery to clients, and to achieve integration of support for interdisciplinary or business-wide initiatives. 
The RBDM will be expected to collaborate in populating team databases, share information, co-ordinate promotional and marketing activities, and support each other by sharing functional expertise when appropriate. 
Identify staff development needs and contribute to the development of training programmes. 
Specific duties 
1) Fundraising 
To work across the board and utilise a broad range of external relationships to create a Business Development plan and a Marketing strategy, so as to support the growth and long-term viability of the Association. 
2) Strategic leadership 
To work closely and in co-operation with the SBDM, Regional Manager and Chief Executive to develop and achieve the corporate strategy, business plans and specific performance targets of the Association. 
To support the long term sustainability of the organisation through effective governance, sound finance and the delivery of all statutory and fiduciary duties. 
3) Business development 
To support develop the wider organisation’s Business Development strategy in co-operation with the SBDM and to take lead responsibility for its implementation. 
4) External relationships 
To work with the SBDM to further the ‘ACH Brand’ and get this universally recognised by key external contacts so enhancing ACH’s reputation, and increasing its chances of obtaining new contracts and having existing contracts renewed. 
To explore wider opportunities for growth such as tactical partnerships. 
5) Finance & IT 
Working in partnership with the leadership team to contribute to the creation of the annual budget for the Business Development Service with particular emphasis on new service developments, reinvestment requirements and disposals. 
Educated to degree level or equivalent 
Experienced in relationship management and customer care 
Pro-active approach in seeking new opportunities, both from companies and public bodies 
Experience related to disciplines within the Business 
Expertise in bid development and managing business pitches 
To be personally well organised and able to prioritise workload 
Strong written communication skills e.g. bid writing with the ability to write reports and keep records 
Strong interpersonal, presentation and pitching skills 
Ability to motivate others to produce information and assistance, from other parts of the Business 
Creativity and imagination in seeking business opportunities and taking our business growth agenda forward 
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the confidence to approach people at all levels of seniority

Networking and relationship management skills with external organisations 
Full UK driving licence
